About Us

I was inspired to start Tutus For Tots after making tutus for my daughter's 2nd birthday party. My daughter was the first to try one of my new creations on...she slipped into this sea of tulle and off she went...you could tell by her joyful delight and giggles that she felt beautiful!  After days and days of Mommy up to her ears in "girly tulle", my son needed a little "boyish" love as well.  This inspired me to make him something of his own.  What else but a CAR movie "superhero cape"?!  He can't take it off...the sky's the limit with this cape.  He's a superhero, Lighting McQueen...he loves nothing more than to soar high in the swing with the cape facing outward.  He imagines he's flying high in the sky as his cape whips in the wind!

Seeing the delight these whimsical items brought my own children, inspired me to do the same for others.

I started making tutus for Goryeb in 2009.  After my first drop-off I decided to start selling items to raise money for materials to make these gifts.  I started out in a local shop and shortly after branched off to the web.

Tutus For Tots has been a huge success and gives me the opportunity to teach my children
"the gift of giving"...something my Great Grandmother taught me!

Why Goryeb?

So, why did I choose Goryeb Children's Hospital as the recipient of these items?

When my son turned two, we discovered he had a heart condition.  The days leading up to his appointment with the pediatric cardiologist were crippling.  He didn't want to go, we didn't want to go, it was just awful....until we walked into Goryeb.  This wasn't just a hospital, it was an inviting, fun, playful place for kids.  Turns out my son's heart condition is the best of all heart conditions to have...but what if it wasn't?

What if I had been one of those parents who had a child with a serious condition, hospitalized for a long period of time?
My thought is something simple and fun like a tutu or cape, that fuels the imagination and brings smiles and giggles...is just what the doctor ordered for these children and their families!

Goryeb Children's Hospital specializes in many pediatric conditions.  The items we deliver go to all areas of the hospital!
